So I've never really just expressed what's on my mind but tonight I'm feeling the urge to share to other Moms! The other day at work I had a four year girl come into the ER who was watching her Mom cook dinner, she was making a pot of soup. So this little girl decided she wanted to see it so she pulled up a chair and stood on it. Unfortunately the chair gave out underneath her and as she was falling she grabbed onto the pot of soup. So this boiling soup splashed all over her right arm, lower back, and thighs. When her parents brought her in, they tore off all of her clothes and she was badly burned, I had never seen it this bad. Her Mom and Dad were crying leading me to have tears in my eyes as I'm trying to start an IV in this girl to give her pain meds so she could relax. I couldn't help but think, what if this Kara? Almost every night I'm in the kitchen cooking on the stove and Kara is busy playing by my feet. What if I dropped the hot boiling water right over her? Since then Kara has been in the highchair while I'm cooking something hot just because I am so fearful of something happening. This little girl will be okay and thankfully she wasn't burned on her face or hands. She was transferred to a burn unit up in Fresno where she'll be in good hands but will definitely have a long road ahead of her. I couldn't help but share this story to all you Moms because this is an accident that could easily be prevented. Every day I pray that He will keep Kara safe and healthy and I will continue to pray that everyday. Children definitely bring on a whole new outlook on life.
Happy 11th Emily!
